Business challenges

Back in 2006, the stakeholders of the product identified the market demand for a solution that optimizes individual roaming costs.

The biggest challenges were the demand for short time-to-market, the management requirements for an innovative solution, and the collaboration between multiple teams -- the customer, three technology partners, and telecom operators.


Solution

The solution is based on the innovative concept of enabling smart-phones to automatically choose (when roaming) the visited operator that offers best price for the particular service required. The decision to change the operator is made in real-time and takes into account factors such as interoperator tariffs, available alternatives, services required (call, SMS, GPRS), call/SMS destination, time zone (peak/off-peak), average talk times, etc.

Roam-n-Roll consists of server-side service and Symbian client application installed on the mobile phones of those who travel extensively.

This product is developed in collaboration with our technology partner, WebGate.
