CTIA Wireless 2010
I’ve just recovered from the long days (and nights) I had in Las Vegas during this year’s CTIA Wireless. It was really a good show but in my opinion it was not so impressive as Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Maybe because I saw almost all the same stuff or maybe the one that is only applicable to the US market. Anyway here are some of my impressions from the show.

If you are planning on a new rich multimedia mobile product venture, inevitably one of the questions that reappear is “Which mobile OSes should we support first?”
Besides looking at the behaviour of your product-specific target users and the overall mobile OS market shares, it makes sense to check who are the fastest growing mobile operating systems in terms of popularity. And last year’s winners are…

More Applications, More Services, More Traffic
Eric Schmidt, CEO, Google:

- “The scale of smartphone is growing more than 30% YoY and in 3 years, if not sooner, smartphones will pass global PC sales.”
Gartner:
- “By 2011, more than 50% of Fortune 500 companies will interact directly with their customers via mobile devices.”
- “By 2013, mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device worldwide.”
- “By 2014, there will be a 90% mobile penetration rate and 6.5 billion mobile connections.”

… with such market it’s hard to find an excuse not to grow
