Mobile Solution Ensures Kids Safety

October 12, 2009

An everyday contradiction most parents are facing is that we’re working more in order to ensure the best conditions for our children while at the same time we do not spend enough time with them because we’re busy working. We’re losing the connection with our children. We don’t know where they’re going, whom they’re meeting with or talking to… And it often happens that our children are chatting in the net or talking on their cell phones with people they are not supposed to.

How can we prevent our children from bullying or anonymous abusive calls?

The answer is Call Control.

Call Control is a mobile solution that we developed in order to provide better safety for our kids. Call Control ensures safe usage of family mobile phones, clear communication and discrete remote management of multiple mobile devices.

The Future of Mobile Messaging

September 30, 2009

Last week I visited “The Future of Mobile Messaging”  – a great conference about mobile messaging in today’s world. It was amazing how entrepreneurs, telecom experts, marketing professionals and other active people in mobile world unified around the idea that the future of mobile messaging for consumers more or less belongs to the social media. Almost every single speaker was referring to Facebook, MySpace or LinkedIn as an opportunity to launch the next kind-of killer service that will increase ARPU.

T-Mobile for example presented two handsets with entirely reshaped idle screen through which one can browse in a fancy way all contacts merged between handset’s phone book and the Facebook account.  She could see their status, latest wall posts and even call them with just a single click without the need to start any kind of application – it is just there, the first thing you see when the handset is switched on.  The service is only available to T-Mobile subscribers and most importantly – it is totally free. T-Mobile demonstrated a great market differentiation for the young audience and it will definitely rock the market.

Top 5 Technologies that would Change the Mobile Landscape

August 18, 2009

As hard as it is to predict the future, I’ll take a shot and give my best guess about the top 5 technologies that would have the strongest impact on the mobile solutions in the coming 2-3 years:

  • Location sensing (cellular triangulation, GPS, WiFi network analysis) – This class of solutions is of course no news, but it is very probable that in the coming years we’ll see new business models emerging from the combination of location sensing technology and something else. Location sensing + advertisement, location sensing + social networking, location sensing + parental control, …
  • Unified communications (UC) – UC will converge all communication means (audio, video, conferencing, instant messaging, presence information) into a single system thus enabling much more efficient and unified communication over distance. Single number, single profile, single address book, single communication terminal – the latter being a mobile device. With UC in place, businesses would probably start to integrate communications with business systems (CRM, ERP, etc.) to further optimize processes.
  • Near-field communications (NFC) – NFC will enable us to quickly and easily authorize payments, authenticate ourselves, open doors, connect and authenticate devices, etc just by taking our mobile phone close to (1-2 cm) another NFC-enabled device.
  • Bluetooth 3.0 – Bluetooth sounds boring enough but the new standard supports a low-consumption mode that will boost telemetries by enabling all kinds of new sensing devices (from home heating meters to personal health sensors) to communicate efficiently.
  • New display technologies (e-ink, OLED, pico projectors) – Besides opening space for completely new class of mobile devices (e.g. electronic book readers), this technology would probably have significant impact on the usability and interfaces of mobile phones and in-car electronics.
